Yesterday I was starving and felt like eating a plate of fried rice. So I walked toward the kitchen, checking what ingredients  I got there and prepared everything.... and it was 1.50am! Bad bad girl! I always feel hungry at night, and I couldn't help cooking to make my kitchen so fragrant, and it would make me feel so happy :)

Ingredients
a plate of rice
3cloves shallot, sliced
3cloves garlic,sliced
1tomato, sliced
1/2 cucumber, sliced
little sliced of cabbage
little sliced of carrots
1/4tbs oyster sauce
2tbs olive oil
1tbs butter (to fry raw egg)
1/2tbs soy bean sauce
1/2tbs pepper
2 eggs
a little salt
Parsley for garnish (optional)

Preparation
Heat olive oil into fry pan, put in the sliced garlic and shallot, break in the egg and fry them for a moment, then toss in the rice and stir fry until they're really combined. Add in the soy bean, oyster sauce, and sprinkle the pepper, and salt for taste. Fry for about 3 minutes, then pick up and put on the plate, set aside. Now melt the butter in the pan, break in another egg and fry a moment to keep the yolk raw, pick up and top it on the fried rice. Add the cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber and parsley.

There is a famous drink here that sold in most corner of the streets, it's called "es buah" or translated as "fruits soup". It contains of various sliced fruits that mixed with skim milk. It's a simple drink but its sweet refreshing coolness can kill our sweats in this amazing hot city!
I  just made this drink for a pitcher, but I also froze it as popsicles... Trala la... this is what I always wanted to make! I was singing while I was making this, no, just joking!

Dissolve 1cup sugar with 1 quart of milk, add in 1/2tbs vanilla extract and sliced of grapes and strawberries. Fridge until frozen!

Look how excited my nephew was when I gave him the popsicle! Oh yeah, he drooled!

Bite.... like no one else lives on this earth

He looks sad that he just bit it!
He loves the popsicle so much that he doesn't want to see his new friend the papasicle gone

No worries, I made more friends for his company :)

Now it's time for me to enjoy this glorious delicious grapeberries cold drink! So long, fellas!

I love this whole bowl of tasty, crisp and fresh short mackerel! Combined with long beans, it's really a perfect match for a delicious source of protein! Now let's make this wonderful healthy dish, so you can serve it to your beloved family, or just serve it for your own indulgence.
Clean 1/4kg short mackerels and fry them in a hot oil until both sides are golden brown. Pick up and put them on the bowl or a plate. Now slice 5 cloves of shallots and onions. Slice 1/4kg of jalapeno, and cut 1/4 long beans, then saute them with 3tbs of light olive oil and add 1/2tbs salt and 1/4tbs sugar, fry for a moment.until cooked. Pick up and top onto the mackerels!

Summer? Hot?! Yes, we through most of our days here with those tropical climates, and I enjoy it whenever the sun shines above me and burn my skin (though sometimes it hurts)... I always want to get tan skin!
In a hot day, we're easily  get dehydrated... I always drink a lot of sparkling water! But I know we do love juice!  I love mango juice! I love citrus juice too! and sometimes I mix those two fruits for the juice and drink it with lots of ice! mmmhhh.... I'm drooling just thinking about it!
Last few days I bought some citrus and I knew I wanted to make a cold drink for those hot days.

I bought half kg of citrus with a good price in a traditional market here. I love citrus, I love the color, and I love the fresh juicy  taste of it!

So the drink I made is just a simple drink that a baby can afford to make it! But I know you won't stop drinking until 10 glasses after you taste the first glass :D

Cut 5 citrus and squeeze them to get the juice, set aside. Now dissolve 1/2 cup sugar with 1cup of warm water. After that, pour the juice and the sugar you've dissolved into a juice mixer, add 1 cup of cold water and some ice cubes. Blend them for a moment to get it a bit foamy. Before you serve it, pour 1/4glass of pure soda into a glass, then pour down the juice. Now you can drink while sunbathing and reading a good novel on the beach :)

Most of the dishes that my mom cooks at home use bird's eye chili. My dad is from West Sumatra, Padang, which means that he likes spicy food, and so do I! Me and my mom love jalapeno too for our dishes, and last time she cooked green and purple eggplants with jalapeno.

These Indonesian eggplants might be small, but they taste really good!

Yes, please prepare lots of bird's eye chilies! They will wake you up and you're gonna love it!

For traditional food, Mom is much better in making it than me,lol. She comes from central java where the people love sweet flavor, but she just really good in cooking spicy food after she got married with my dad. Yay Mom! I love most of the food that she makes.

When you saute the eggplants for few minutes, the texture inside is getting soft, and the mixture of garlic, red onion and chili's paste stir fried  with the eggplants makes it more tasteful... and hot! yes! yes! We love eating them with a plate of warm rice.

Sparkling water is the best drink for this meal! When your tongue gets burn, nothing is better than drinking the mineral water. It's a match if you drink the water with ice cubes, perfect! :)

Ingredients:
8 mix of Purple and Green Eggplants

1/4 Bird's eye chilies
5 Jalapenos
3 cloves Red Onion
1 clove Garlic
1/4 tbs Salt

How To Cook:
Wash and clean the eggplants, then cut them to smaller size
Grind the red onion, garlic and bird's eye chilies, saute them with little vegetable oil for a moment until fragrant.
Add in the jalapeno and the eggplants, stir fry until the eggplants getting softer.
Pick up and serve with warm rice.

It's a challenge to capture the motion of water. With DSLR camera, you can freeze the water splash with fast or high shutter speed technique. It needs precise time! I've been trough many trials and errors, but then having fun often taking shots of people doing activity with water or I just playing around with water and fruits to capture the moment of splashing just like the following photos.
